St. Margaret’s Teacher Training College established in 1894 is one of our oldest
institutions which is catering to Teacher Training for Primary grades. It is affiliated to the Anglo-Indian Board of Education New Delhi and the Maharashtra Board for the conduct of Examinations.

The two-year course lends itself to a fairly integrated curriculum of theory and practice with special focus on creativity and audio-visuals. Hostel facility is available for the student teachers.

A Government aided institution open to children of all castes and creeds     serves the mentally and physically challenged children. A regular school schedule with specialized help for personal development is followed. Special Care of each child with personal attention, Handicraft and physical education take a prime place. Today CJM Special School has a strength of 110 children.


 

The Sisters help in coaching the weaker children, conduct FJM meetings regularly and also help in the Parish as B.C.C. members, Eucharistic Ministers and Catechist.

CJM, popularly known as Fort Convent, dates back to 1855. Government aided secondary school, following the SSC system of Education.

 

Open to all castes and creeds, the school stands for academic excellence,         development of skills, character formation, sports and brings about the total       and all round development of every child as a person. Besides academics, the     school conducts various activities and celebrates several significant days and       festivals.

The Sisters also help and participate in the Pastoral activities of the Parish.


B]   Prem Dan – Thévenet Garden School

The success of Prem Dan goes to Sr. Felicity Morris, who began this project more than 32 years back with three children under a tree where at present we have the Garden School. 

 

Prem Dan is a home for slum children, street children and domestics who are provided with Education, Nutrition, and other facilities.

The Sisters and the staff prepare these children in pre-primary classes and later seek admissions in near by schools and colleges. Some of these children are admitted in the Hostel at Prem Dan Social Service Centre – Kharghar, Navi Mumbai and educated at CJM Kharghar School.

The contribution of generous donors helps towards the financing of this project. Prem Dan sponsors 750 students from various Schools and Colleges.

 


C]   Prem Dan Project - Geeta Nagar (Pre-Primary and Tailoring Class)

Tailoring Classes are conducted at two centers,  Geeta Nagar and Sewri for women and dropouts. This Certificate enables them to earn a livelihood. Pre-Primary Classes are conducted for the children of the locality who are later admitted in the Primary Schools in the vicinity.

Many of our JM Schools established prior to Independence, were pioneered by a French, English, Spanish, Irish and American Sisters - Each were stalwarts in their own way and have contributed greatly to JM Education in India. 

 

The school stands for academic excellence, development of skills, character formation and  sports. It takes special care to bring about the all round development of the children. The students help in coaching the weaker students of Garden School.

St. Anne’s Open School gives an opportunity to the school dropouts to complete their education up to Std. X.

Our Works:

 

Convent of Jesus and Mary was established at Palle Vasai in 1978. The sisters served at St. Bede’s Marathi Primary School. Later a Kinder Garden  class was started, which helped the children obtain admission in nearby English medium schools. The number of students in St. Bede’s Marathi Primary School dwindled year by year and demand for an English medium was much greater.

 

 Considering the needs of the people, Convent Of Jesus and Mary, an English Medium School was started  in June 2000. A boon to the people of the Parish and those of other faiths, the School has grown up to Std. IX by natural growth. Proud to be CJM students, the first batch of boys and girls is vibrant and enthusiastic. They will soon enter the final year of their school life.

The school stands for academic excellence, development of skills, character formation, sports and Instills cultural, moral and spiritual values. The Sisters take special care of the weak and needy children and brings about the total and all round development of every child as a person. 

The Sisters help in teaching catechism, value education and coaching the weaker children. They also help in the Parish as Eucharistic Ministers, teach Catechism and participate in the various activities of the parish.

Sunday Schools, prepare children for First Holy Communion and Confirmation, participate in the activities of Church associations such as Small Christian Communities, Sodality, Vincent De Paul Society, Prerna adult education programme, friends of Jesus, Helping the youth groups, Eucharistic Ministry, Participate in inter-faith groups, Visiting the families in the Parish and coach the weaker students. The group of ‘Family of Jesus’ is very active at Marol.

Established in 2002, Prem Dan is a Home for Orphans, Street Children and children of Drug-Adicts  and Alcoholics. They are cared for by the sisters and educated at Convent of Jesus and Mary School, Kharghar.  For their further studies they are financially helped. Today some of  them are well settled in their careers.

 

The Sisters give individual attention

to these children, teach values, take care of their spiritual and material needs.
